ABOUT ALBUM LISTENING NOTES
It started with
hearing familiar music
differently.
The idea for Album Listening Notes was inspired while reading Tony Fletcher's excellent biography, Dear Boy: The Life of Keith Moon.
Immersing myself in the cultural backdrop of the era, the dynamics within The Who, and the nuances of their instrumentation and production, I listened with fresh ears.
This combination of context and sound transformed my experience, deepening my appreciation of the music.

THE IDEA
I wanted those insights every time I listened to an album.
I wanted stories, background and meaning to accompany the music — something that could help me understand how an album was made, but also draw my attention back to what I could actually hear.
Album Listening Notes grew from that idea.
I hope they help you hear something new every time you listen.
